Peter ‘Wohlfi’ Wohlfahrtstätter coping well with quarantine in Lisbon
News from the National Federations
Vienna, Austria/Lisbon, Portugal, March 30, 2020. Peter Wohlfahrtstätter is the captain of the Austrian national team that made a truly historic EuroVolley appearance last year in Belgium. Moreover, the 203-cm tall middle blocker has been playing this season for Benfica LISBOA, one of the major sensations in this year’s CEV Champions League Volley. The Portuguese team made it all the way from the 1st Round to the group stage of the competition, where they were able to secure a home victory over Verva WARSZAWA Orlen Paliwa of Poland.
‘Wohlfi’ is still in Lisbon. As we all know, the coronavirus pandemic has substantially brought sport to a halt. Not only in Austria or Lisbon, but practically worldwide.
“I am doing very well here in Lisbon,” emphasises the man from Tyrol, who turned 31 earlier this month. “The situation is pretty much the same as in Austria, only we are three days behind, so to speak. Supermarkets work perfectly, parks are open, and the sun is shining. It is all fine. We receive training and nutrition plans from the club. The sports psychologist also gave us a plan of how we can best cope with the situation,” he continues.
“I have been in voluntary quarantine since March 8 because Benfica responded very quickly to this crisis. I go out to train once a day when the weather allows. Otherwise, I take a walk and do my programme at home. By the way, there is a guided yoga class for the team starting in just half an hour... Best regards to everyone and please stay healthy!”
