Home heroes delight audience at EEVZA zonal event in Bakuriani
News from the Zonal Associations
Bakuriani, Georgia, February 13, 2020. A true Snow Volleyball party continued on Wednesday in Bakuriani, with the first competition day for the third EEVZA zonal event of this winter after previous tournaments held in Armenia and Lithuania. The matches started early in the morning at the Kids Park of Georgia’s most popular ski resort and continued all the way until late in the evening, with the semi-finals played under floodlights and a joy for the local fans in the men’s competition.
It is the third Snow Volleyball competition within the space of 10 days held in Bakuriani, after the Georgian national championships and the second stop of this year’s European Tour. The matches were all equally interesting and exciting, but the local fans especially enjoyed the men’s matches featuring Georgia 2 and Armenia. Armenia secured a 2-1 victory in the pool stage of the competition, before Georgia 2 (Tskhomaria/Chkholaria/Kopaliani) claimed a 2-0 re-match in the semis, much to the delight of the cheering Georgian fans.
The competition will be reaching its climax on Thursday, with the medal matches played after a night where the organisers expect for much snow to fall on Bakuriani. The event in Bakuriani features teams from Armenia, Georgia and Russia.
