EEVZA zonal event to continue Snow Volleyball party in Bakuriani
News from the Zonal Associations
Bakuriani, Georgia, February 12, 2020. Only a couple of days after completion of the second stop on this year’s European Tour, the Georgian ski resort of Bakuriani will be playing host to an EEVZA Snow Volleyball zonal event – the second such kind of tournament this winter after a similar competition took place in late January in Tsakhkadzor, Armenia.
The hosts from Georgia achieved a historic feat on Sunday by securing the silver medal from the women’s competition. There is a lot of excitement about Snow Volleyball in Georgia, with more and more players trying their skills on the snow – while working on the ideal team composition as per the revamped rules of the game (3v3). This is testament to the work done by the Georgian Volleyball Federation, which has embraced Snow Volleyball with much enthusiasm and is trying to secure good results in the discipline.
None of the medallists from previous events this winter will compete at the EEVZA tournament in Bakuriani, so this is an opportunity for new teams and players to come to the fore. Many tourists currently holidaying in Bakuriani, including children, will visit the event to see for themselves what a Snow Volleyball competition looks like and this will hopefully awaken their interest in the sport.
