School Project to mobilise children in Volleyball-mad ‘Land of Fire’
News from the National Federations
Luxembourg, December 19, 2019. Azerbaijan are the latest country whose National Federation has decided to join forces with the CEV to grow the game at the grassroots level with the help of the School Project run under the slogan ‘Play Volleyball, grow with it’.
Earlier this week, Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation’s Secretary General, Jalil Jafarov, and Mr Elnur Mammadov travelled to the home of European Volleyball in Luxembourg to sign the relevant agreement and pay a visit to CEV President Aleksandar Boričić.
The agreement is the logical continuation of the extensive work that the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation started back in 2017 in the lead-up to the historic EuroVolley 2017 Women – a major competition that they co-hosted together with their neighbours from Georgia. As the ‘Land of Fire’ was preparing to welcome the very best national teams in Europe, the Federation worked tirelessly to promote Volleyball among the nation’s youngsters, with a focus on school pupils.
The CEV School Project and the cooperation with national authorities will provide the ideal opportunity and platform to involve even more children and grow tomorrow’s stars of Azerbaijani Volleyball. With Azerbaijanis being so passionate about Volleyball, you can be confident that the Caucasus country will continue to be a force to reckon with on the international stage.
