Russian champions Kuzbass KEMEROVO prepare for #CLVolleyM debut

Kemerovo, Russia, November 27, 2019. Russian reigning national champions Kuzbass KEMEROVO are preparing for their much-anticipated maiden appearance in the CEV Champions League. They will be playing their first match in the elite competition on December 4 against Fakel NOVY URENGOY, the bronze medal winners from the last edition of the Russian Superleague. The Drawing of Lots held in Sofia on October 25 placed both Russian teams in Pool B.
“The rival is well-known to us from the Russian Superleague - Fakel NOVY URENGOY has been performing well this year in the Russian championship. The coming game will be our first one in the Champions League, and the same goes for our opponent. We anticipate an interesting game and we expect much support from our fans. We aim to go through the pool stage and to qualify for the quarterfinals. Our other opponents from LJUBLJANA and BERLIN are seasoned teams with several years of experience in the Champions League,” said General Director, Sergei Lomako.
Before starting their Champions League campaign, Kuzbass are due to have two more games in the national championship. After completion of the seventh round, Kuzbass sit in fourth place, while Fakel are second. On top of that, Kuzbass have qualified for the Final Four of the Russian Cup, where they will be playing Zenit KAZAN in the semis.
The other opponents of Kuzbass in Pool B are the reigning national champions of Germany and Slovenia, BERLIN Recycling Volleys and ACH Volley LJUBLJANA, respectively.
