Cherkassy, Ukraine, November 12, 2019. Shortly after securing a historic spot in the group stage of the CEV Champions League Volley 2020, Ukrainian national champions Khimik YUZHNY beat Orbita ZNU Zodush ZAPORIZHZHIA 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-15) to claim the Supercup of Ukraine for the fourth year in a row. The best scorer in the early rounds of the CEV Champions League Volley 2020, Yuliya Boyko, received the prize for the Most Valuable Player of the match.
It is the 19th trophy in the history of the club, which makes Khimik the most-decorated Ukrainian women’s Volleyball team of all time.
The game in the first two sets was a very close one (with the score standing at 21-20) but the 9-time champions of Ukraine emerged victorious after displaying some great actions in the so-called ‘money time’. In the third set, Orbita rushed to a 5-2, 7-4 lead, before Khimik responded by scoring nine points in a row, thus flipping the charts to make it 17-10 in their favour. The setter of Khimik YUZHNY, Darya Velykokon made four aces during this spell.
Before their first match in the group stage of the CEV Champions League coming up next week with titleholders Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA, Khimik will play in Ternopil with Galychanka who currently sit in third place in the standing of the Ukrainian national league.
