Know Your ‘Super Teams’ – Cucine Lube CIVITANOVA
CEV Champions League Volley 2019 Super Finals

Luxembourg, May 12, 2019. It is a truly exciting time for the fans of Cucine Lube CIVITANOVA. Last night, their heroes smashed Sir Colussi Sicoma PERUGIA 3-0 in the fourth round of the Italian Superleague championship series to stay in contention for the title. Moreover, in six days only, Lube will be chasing the most coveted crown in European Volleyball playing titleholders Zenit KAZAN of Russia at the Super Finals in Berlin. The eventual winners of the #CLVolleyM ‘grand finale’ will secure a € 400,000 record-breaking purse.

The ‘super match’ at Max-Schmeling-Halle will be a repeat of last year’s final where Zenit KAZAN emerged victorious at the tiebreak to secure their sixth Champions League title overall – and fourth in a row. If Lube are still in contention for the title in their national championship, Zenit sensationally lost the Russian Superleague Finals to Kuzbass KEMEROVO earlier this week.

These are some interesting facts for fans to remember before the final showdown in Berlin:

•    Cucine Lube CIVITANOVA are in the Champions League final for the third time. They won in 2001/2002 and finished runners-up to Zenit KAZAN in 2017/2018.
•    Cucine Lube can become the fourth team to win the CL multiple times, after Zenit KAZAN (6), TRENTINO Volley (3) and Belogorie BELGOROD (3).
•    The last Italian team to win the CL were TRENTINO Volley in 2010/2011, when they defeated Zenit KAZAN in the final in Bolzano.
•    Cucine Lube are the only team still undefeated this CL season. Seven of their 10 wins this campaign came in straight sets.
•    Cucine Lube's current 10-match winning streak is their longest in the competition. Their last defeat in the CL was last year’s final against Zenit KAZAN (3-2).
•    Tsvetan Sokolov (152) is Cucine Lube's leading point scorer this CL season.
•    Yoandy Leal Hidalgo (4.04%) has the best server efficiency this CL season. He served up six aces in the semi-finals, at least two more than any other player did.
