Know Your ‘Super Teams’ – Imoco Volley CONEGLIANO
CEV Champions League Volley 2019 Super Finals
Luxembourg, May 10, 2019. The newly crowned Italian national champions, Imoco Volley CONEGLIANO, will be trying to cap an already fabulous season with the only major trophy still missing from their collection – the CEV Champions League crown. The countdown to the historic Super Finals in Berlin has started, with Imoco Volley set to extend there their domestic rivalry with Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA. Europe’s most coveted Volleyball title will be at stake in the German capital, together with € 400,000 for the eventual winners of the ‘big match’ taking place at the iconic Max-Schmeling-Halle.
Through the Super Finals, Imoco Volley are hoping to secure a full set of #CLVolleyW medals to go with the silver and bronze they won in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
These are some additional interesting facts about the Italian ‘Panthers’:
• Imoco Volley CONEGLIANO are in the Champions League final for the second time after 2016/2017. Imoco Volley lost that final 0-3 to VakifBank ISTANBUL at Palaverde in Treviso.
• Imoco Volley eliminated Fenerbahce Opet ISTANBUL in this year's semi-finals. They won both matches in straight sets after causing a sensation in the quarterfinals, where they lost 0-3 at home to Eczacibasi VitrA ISTANBUL before pulling out an away victory by the same score and take the all-important Golden Set that followed.
• Imoco Volley dropped only two sets in their three matches with Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA in the championship series of the Italian national league.
• Only Allianz MTV STUTTGART (122) and VakifBank ISTANBUL (112) have scored more points from killing blocks this CL season than Imoco Volley (109).
• Robin de Kruijf has scored 31 points from killing blocks this CL season, the second-highest tally behind Allianz MTV STUTTGART's Paige Tapp (37).
• Joanna Wolosz is the best setter in the CL this campaign with an efficiency of 46.99%.
