2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Women
Luxembourg, April 6, 2019. On Tuesday, Imoco Volley CONEGLIANO delighted a huge home crowd of more than 5,000 fans as the ‘Panthers’ stormed to a 3-0 victory in their first #CLVolleyW semi-final with Turkey’s Fenerbahce Opet ISTANBUL. As a result, Imoco Volley are only two sets away from securing their spot at the Super Finals in Berlin – and early next week will once again rely on their star setter Joanna Wolosz in order to accomplish this feat.
Wolosz is currently spending her second season with Imoco – and last year she helped CONEGLIANO claim a bronze medal from the Final Four of the CEV Champions League held in Bucharest. The 28-year-old setter is also a key member of the Polish national team, with whom she will be contesting the EuroVolley 2019 on home soil in Lodz later this year.
Setters do not often take centre stage as much as they deserve, but Wolosz definitely plays a leading role in Imoco Volley’s success. She currently is – and by far – the best setter of the 2019 CEV Champions League and last Tuesday she mastered a superb game as the ‘Panthers’ took their second straight scalp of a Turkish team – after achieving a sensational away victory over Eczacibasi VitrA ISTANBUL in the quarterfinals.
On Tuesday, April 9, ‘Asia’, Wolosz’s nickname, will be trying hard to secure Imoco’s second participation in a Champions League gold medal match, after the ‘Panthers’ lost to VakifBank ISTANBUL back in 2017 when hosting the Final Four in Treviso.
