2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Women
Luxembourg, March 27, 2019. Last week Imoco Volley CONEGLIANO caused a real sensation as they came back from a heavy home loss to record a 3-0 victory followed by a Golden Set win in their quarterfinal fixture with Eczacibasi VitrA ISTANBUL to secure a spot in the semis of the 2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League. Kimberly Hill was highly pivotal to this comeback as the American outside hitter scored as many as 25 points for the Italian ‘Panthers’ who next week will host Fenerbahce Opet ISTANBUL in the first round of the semis.
Hill is currently chasing her fourth straight Champions League medal after seizing the crown with VakifBank in 2017 – doing so at her actual home, Palaverde in Treviso. Hill has a silver medal – also with VakifBank – to her name from 2016 as well as bronze from last year’s Final Four in Bucharest where she wore the shirt of Imoco Volley.
Her list of accolades is truly impressive – but the breakthrough for the graduate of Pepperdine University came in 2014 when she helped USA claim their very first World Championship title and took the prize for the Most Valuable Player of the competition as well.
The bronze medal winner from the Rio 2016 Olympics will be hoping for further success next week when Imoco Volley host Fenerbahce at Palaverde in a repeat of the pool matches these two teams contested in the 2018 edition, when CONEGLIANO secured two 3-2 wins over the Yellow Angels.
