TRENTINO set sights on fourth European final in five years
2019 CEV Volleyball Cup - Men
Trento, Italy, March 4, 2019. TRENTINO Itas are only two sets away from qualifying for the final stage of the 2019 CEV Volleyball Cup – Men after last week the reigning world champions stormed to a 3-0 away victory at Olympiacos PIRAEUS in Greece. If they make it to the last stage of the competition, TRENTINO will secure their fourth European Cup final appearance in the last five years. They would be playing there the winners of the fixture between Russia’s Kuzbass KEMEROVO and Galatasaray ISTANBUL of Turkey.
“In Athens we were able to play a great match, and we had the right attitude,” says head coach Angelo Lorenzetti, who on Tuesday celebrated his 100th match at the helm of TRENTINO with a comprehensive victory. “We were calm, determined but at the same time we were aggressive as well. I hope this will happen again at home because we really want to make it to the final. The 2019 CEV Cup is one of the main goals of the season and we want to get it.”
The home match with Olympiacos will be TRENTINO’s 169th international match and the no. 35 in the CEV Cup in their history. TRENTINO have lost only five times this far in the CEV Cup and have an impeccable record of seven wins in as many matches in this year’s event. TRENTINO will count on their complete roster for the home fixture with the Greek team.
