Belogorie BELGOROD aims at the third European trophy
2019 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup - Men
Belgorod, Russia, February 27, 2019. After a thriller in Portugal, when the Russian team lost the second quarterfinal match to Sport LISBOA e Benfica but finally won the Golden Set, Belogorie BELGOROD will take the next step of their European journey playing the semis of the 2019 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup – Men.
This is the only European trophy missing in the collection of the Belgorod Lions after they seized Champions League gold medals in 2003, 2004 and 2014, and the CEV Cup crown in 2009 and 2018.
The next rival on the way to the finals is Stade Poitevin POITIERS. This was the first French club Belogorie faced in the European Cups – it was back in 1997 in the Cup Winners Cup. Overall, Belogorie BELGOROD and Stade Poitevin POITIERS have locked horns four times in European competitions.
Today’s match will be the fifth and a crucial one to decide who will have a chance to fight for the trophy.
