Luburic still hopeful Halkbank can make it to #CLVolleyM quarterfinals
2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Men
Ankara, Turkey, January 30, 2018. It is time for the fourth round of action in the pool stage of the 2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League and many teams are trying to figure out what chances they still stand at making it to the quarterfinals. As they dropped a number of points from their previous matches, Halkbank are one of those teams. They very much hope to send their next opponents, United Volleys FRANKFURT, back home without any points following the matchup on Wednesday night. Drazen Luburic is the team’s top scorer and he will carry the hopes of home success.
“Like all of my teammates I will do my best to contribute to a good performance of the team. I have been concentrating on the upcoming match for a while and hope to play a good game,” Luburic said. “I did not have a chance to see our previous match against United Volleys again, but I remember that they played much better than us and won in Frankfurt. However, I am sure we will do a better job here in Ankara and hopefully, we will win.”
After the home fixture with the Germans, Halkbank will have another two matches in the group. “I am hoping that some miracle happens in the other pools and if we win all of the three matches left, we may have a chance at qualifying for the next round of the Champions League,” he continued.
Luburic has been taking Turkish classes since his transfer to Ankara. “Well, I am still a little lazy about it. I try to learn sometimes through YouTube but I should have more practice with local people,” he admitted. “I feel good here in Ankara. The season has been going well up until now. I did not have any real difficulties so far. Everything is going smoothly. I enjoy Turkish food and my favourite dishes are baklava and künefe. The rest of the food we get here is quite similar to what I would eat back home in Serbia,” the opposite hitter continues. “I usually do not cook myself, and I do that only for breakfast. I try to follow my girlfriend sometimes because she is a good cook. She is doing most of the work at home and she keeps me healthy.”
