World champions TRENTINO in ominous form in #CEVCupM

Trento, Italy, December 22, 2018. Reigning world champions TRENTINO Itas needed three sets (25-16, 25-19, 25-21) only to claim their home match with Germany’s sensation Hypo Tirol AlpenVolleys HACHING, meaning that they are only two sets away from reaching the quarterfinals of the 2019 CEV Volleyball Cup – Men. TRENTINO will be travelling to Germany in January knowing that two sets will be enough to progress further in the competition.
All of the stats spoke in favour of TRENTINO, with 59% success rate in attack and 10 blocks for the Italians. Luca Vettori top scored with 15 points (75%) to secure TRENTINO’s fifth straight victory this season, as Aaron Russell and Uros Kovacevic performed well too. Setter Simone Giannelli marshalled the attack with the usual cool-bloodedness as TRENTINO registered as many as seven aces in the match, including three signed by Vettori.
“We got the job done as we were focussed on achieving a good result but we know already that the away match will not be an easy one,” said TRENTINO coach Angelo Lorenzetti. “The last matches we played have taught us not to underestimate any opponent. Tonight we were probably a bit too relaxed but we were trying to save some energy, and yet we finished the match in three sets.”
There is no time to rest for the world champions who on Sunday, December 23 play Vero Volley MONZA in their national league for the last round of play in the first half of the regular season.
