World champions TRENTINO to take on German surprise package in #CEVCupM
2019 CEV Volleyball Cup - Men
Trento, Italy, December 20, 2018. Reigning club world champions TRENTINO Itas play Germany’s Hypo Tirol AlpenVolleys HACHING on Thursday night at BLM Group Arena in Trento as they chase further glory in the 8th Finals of the 2019 CEV Volleyball Cup – Men.
As they currently sit in second place in the very competitive Italian national league, Simone Giannelli and his teammates resume their run in the European competition after registering two straight 3-0 wins over LAUSANNE UC of Switzerland in the previous round. They play one of the strongest teams from the German Bundesliga before a busy schedule follows in the national league with three matches in seven days.
“Of course we focus on one match at a time, also because we will have to play very cautiously in the CEV Cup,” says TRENTINO coach Angelo Lorenzetti. “We will have the surprise package of the German championship, as HACHING lead the way there after beating opponents such as BERLIN Recycling Volleys and VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN. Traditionally, German teams are very good in the break point; therefore, we will have to train well our side-out phase and be very careful in the most important moments of the match.”
It is the 54th international match at BLM Group Arena as TRENTINO can count on a full roster. The two teams know each other pretty well from a number of friendly matches, including one from September 19, 2018 at BLM Group Arena, where HACHING won 3-1 as TRENTINO were missing 10 players competing at the World Championship in Italy and Bulgaria.
