Top player Tatjana Bokan joins Swietelsky BÉKÉSCSABA to boost chances of reaching #CEVCupW 8th Finals
2019 CEV Volleyball Cup - Women
Békéscsaba, Hungary, December 3, 2018. Swietelsky BÉKÉSCSABA of Hungary will be hosting on Wednesday Khimik YUZHNY of Ukraine in a return match scheduled for the 16th Finals of the 2019 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women. After a very close battle, Khimik emerged victorious last week at home in four sets. Therefore, the five-time Hungarian national champions have to record a 3-0 or 3-1 home victory to stay alive in the competition and go for an all-important Golden Set.
The hosts expect 2,000 fans will come together on Wednesday night to create an amazing atmosphere as they have done in previous home fixtures as well. “We were close to winning at least two sets in the first game but we could not manage to do that. We are preparing for the second game, we have been working on motivating our players and just signed a big name from Montenegro, who will help us in our quest for a spot in the 8th Finals of the CEV Cup,” said club President Adam Baran.
The latest addition to the roster of the Hungarian team is Tatjana Bokan. The 30-year-old, 185 cm tall player from Montenegro has a lot of experience in the Champions League and in the CEV Cup as well. She has an impressive resume, including titles from the French Cup and the French national league, where she received the MVP award as well. She won a gold medal from the elite Japanese V.League as well and played finals in Azerbaijan too. Last year she played in the most competitive national league in the world, i.e. in Italy, for the team based in the city of Pesaro.
“I am happy to be here in Békéscsaba, my former teammates Edina Dobi and Ksenija Ivanovic both told me many good things about the club. This very same club offered me a contract during the summer, and at that time, I did not sign, but this time I could not say no to the team. I know myself: I have a winner’s mentality, which I want to share with the other players in the locker room. I know Békéscsaba did not have much success at the beginning of this season and they had to deal with many injuries. I know we start this battle against Khimik YUZHNY from a 1-3 loss, but I will try my best to help the team force the Golden Set and after that, advance to the next round,” Bokan said.
