Polish Volleyball legend Wlazly celebrates 15 years of elite Volleyball
News from the clubs
Plock, Poland, November 30, 2018. The legendary star captain of PGE Skra BELCHATOW, Mariusz Wlazly celebrated on Thursday a truly remarkable achievement while competing at the FIVB Men’s Club World Championship in Plock. Thursday was indeed 15 years to the day since Wlazly, as a 20-year-old, played his first ever game for Skra on November 29, 2003. This was a Polish League match against JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel, in which he came on off the bench.
Now at 35, Wlazly has already led Skra and the national team of Poland to numerous successes. In 2014, he received the MVP award of the FIVB World Championship for his role in earning Poland the first of their back-to-back world titles. Wlazly is a seasoned veteran, having earned two silver medals and one bronze with Skra at the Club World Championship to go with one silver and two bronze medals (in 2012, 2010 and 2008, respectively) from the CEV Volleyball Champions League.
Wlazly is still going strong as we saw him record 20 points in last week's #CLVolleyM Polish derby against Trefl GDANSK.
That is not to mention his numerous other team and individual awards. The Polish Volleyball legend is chasing further glory in Europe’s elite competition and last week scored as many as 20 points in Skra’s 3-1 home victory in the Polish derby with Trefl GDANSK.
His PGE Skra teammates spell out ‘Legenda 2’ (see picture above) ahead of the match against Zenit KAZAN at the 2018 FIVB Men’s Club World Championship to celebrate Wlazly and his 15 years at the highest level in Volleyball.
