New #CLVolleyW jerseys as lucky charm for German national champions SCHWERIN?
2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Women
Schwerin, Germany, November 19, 2018. It has been four years since SSC Palmberg SCHWERIN played their last Champions League match. After finishing third in the 2018 edition of the CEV Cup and winning the German national league two years in a row, the team qualified for the 2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League – and can boast a new jersey designed only and specifically for their international matches. The players hope this will be a lucky charm as they aim at progressing to the next round of Europe’s elite club competition.
Since the national team season was an extremely long one, SSC Palmberg SCHWERIN only had a small group of players to work with earlier this summer and fall. Britt Bongaerts and Tessa Polder (Netherlands), Jennifer Geerties, Denise Hanke, Kimberly Drewniok and Anna Pogany (Germany) all played at the FIVB World Championship in Japan with the national teams of Germany and the Netherlands. At the end of October, the 2018-2019 season finally started with the Supercup and a win against DRESDNER SC – known as a classic match within Germany’s first league.
Starting the season as Supercup winners, head coach Felix Koslowski and his team cannot wait to compete in the 2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League. “Our pool is a tough one but we are looking forward to playing great opponents and exciting games,” Felix Koslowski said about the pool matches in Round 4. The German national champions will be facing Imoco Volley CONEGLIANO, Savino Del Bene SCANDICCI (both from Italy) and ŁKS Commercecon ŁÓDŹ (Poland) in Pool D.
Captain Jennifer Geerties and her team will travel to Poland for their first game scheduled for November 20. Shortly before the first pool match in the Champions League, there was an away game in Erfurt for the German national league, before Felix Koslowski’s team travelled to Wroclaw for some extra training before their #CLVolleyW season-opener.
