PAOK THESSALONIKI seize national cup crown

Rhodes, Greece, April 23, 2018. PAOK THESSALONIKI claimed on Saturday night the national cup title after winning the derby with Iraklis by 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-18), thus securing their second crown in the competition after their maiden triumph in 2015.
In the semi-finals, PAOK had recorded a 3-2 hard-fought victory (19-25, 25-22, 19-25, 25-22, 15-8) in their matchup with Olympiacos PIRAEUS. In the second semi-final, Iraklis were trailing 0-2, but emerged victorious 3-2 (32-34, 17-25, 36-34, 32-30, 15-10) after a match lasting almost three hours.
“We are really happy that we won the Cup. We were not thinking too far away, as we just played rally after rally. Congratulations to my players, as they did an excellent job and they deserved this title. We will now celebrate for a couple of days and after that, we will be preparing for the semi-finals in the Greek championship,” said PAOK coach Daniele Ricci.
