Oscar-winning director Steven Bernstein awards League Cup Nikos Samaras trophy to Olympiacos PIRAEUS
News from the National Federations
Syros, Greece, April 4, 2018. With a scent from Hollywood, since the Oscar-winning American director and screenwriter Steven Bernstein was the one to award the eventual winners of the competition, Olympiacos PIRAEUS triumphed in the seventh edition of the League Cup Nikos Samaras Final Four.
Olympiacos defeated Ethnikos ALEXANDROUPOLIS 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-13) in the title-deciding game, only four days before the first Challenge Cup final matchup with Bunge RAVENNA in Italy. Steven Bernstein, who was in the Greek island of Syros for the establishment of a school and other activities relating to a Hollywood film studio, presented the trophy to the players of Olympiacos.
Olympiacos outside hitter Jeroen Rauwerdink was the real ‘man of the match’ and he received the award for the Most Valuable Player of the Finals. “It is my first individual award and that goes with the first trophy for Olympiacos this year. Our focus now is on the Challenge Cup finals with Bunge RAVENNA,” the Dutch player said.
