Russian Lions vs Slovenian Dragons in CEV Cup quarterfinals

Belgorod, Russia, February 13, 2018. On Wednesday, Belogorie BELGOROD will try to make the first step towards reaching the semis of the 2018 CEV Volleyball Cup. Their opponent is ACH Volley LJUBLJANA – the 14-time Slovenian champions, who have won that title for 13 years in a row. Moreover, the last two years they added the Slovenian Cup title as well to their impressive resume.
The Slovenian Dragons started their journey in the European Cups from the CEV Champions League but they lost in the third round to another Russian powerhouse, Lokomotiv NOVOSIBIRSK.
In the CEV Cup, both teams started from the 1/16 finals and they have swept all of their matches this far. This means that one or the other’s winning streak will end on Wednesday.
The home team is determined to fight. Belogorie’s team captain Sergey Tetyukhin said: “Now we have to face a much more serious opponent. ACH Volley LJUBLJANA is an experienced team, and they know how to win, as they have not lost a single match in their national championship this season. They have Champions League experience as well. Therefore, tomorrow it will not be easy at all. However, our goal is the victory and we will do our best to achieve it.”
