SCHWERIN hope to use home-court advantage in CEV Cup fixture with Ukrainian champions
2018 CEV Volleyball Cup - Woman

Schwerin, Germany, January 24, 2018. In the first leg of the CEV Cup 8th Finals, SSC Palmberg SCHWERIN host Ukrainian multiple national champions Khimik YUZHNY on Thursday. There was this very same clash in the quarterfinals two years ago, with the Germans recording 3-1 and 3-0 wins on their way to the semis.

The Ukrainian team had no trouble with ZesarVFM FRANCHES-MONTAGNES of Switzerland in the previous round, as two clear wins secured their progress to the next stage of the competition.

Khimik YUZHNY are very strong especially from a physical standpoint, with many great attackers. Their outstanding opposite hitter Anastasiia Chernukha left her mark at last year’s EuroVolley in Baku. At the same time, Khimik boast many very young and internationally inexperienced players. However, the SSC will certainly have to play at the top level, especially in block and defence, in order to be able to travel to Ukraine on the back of a clear home victory.
