Novara, Italy, December 12, 2017. For the third straight year, Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA organised a so-called “Teddy bear toss” event just before their eagerly anticipated Italian national league home game with Imoco Volley CONEGLIANO. The action results in the provision of a special Christmas gift for the kids who are spending their holiday season in hospital.
That is the meaning of Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA’s “Teddy bear toss”, which has become a sort of a tradition for the reigning champions of the Italian national league. Last Saturday night, before the home game with Imoco Volley CONEGLIANO, the audience and the players of both teams came to the sports hall with a small “Teddy bear”. What happened before the start of the game? After the speaker’s signal, everyone just threw stuffed animals onto the court. The local personnel collected almost 500, which Igor Gorgonzola will donate to the children staying at the Department of Paediatrics of the city’s hospital as well as to charities that the club has been cooperating with for quite some time.
The “Teddy bear toss” is a popular Christmas event at many ice hockey arenas across North America. Fans are encouraged to bring teddy bears to the games, and to throw them onto the ice when the home team scores its first goal. The toys are then gathered up to be donated as Christmas presents to hospitals and charities.
Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA started its Teddy bear toss experience in December 2015 and just did it for the third straight year.
