2018 CEV Volleyball Cup - Women
Schwerin, Germany, December 12, 2017. After three semi-finals in the last three years, SSC Palmberg SCHWERIN want to play a good role in this year’s CEV Volleyball Cup again and take the opportunity to present the club and its young players on the international stage.
This season SSC Palmberg SCHWERIN participate in the CEV Cup and it will probably be a bit more difficult as in the previous years to reach the semi-finals, as the competition is much stronger than in the Challenge Cup.
The first opponent waiting in the 16th Finals is Rocheville LE CANNET from France and the match is going to be a very tough challenge. Currently, the team of the experienced coach Dragutin Baltic had to cope with some injury worries and slipped down to rank five in the French league standing with five wins and five losses after a good start to the season. The French squad features many internationally experienced players. The Croatian outside hitter Matea Ikic, the Cuban diagonal Dayami Sanchez Savon and middle blocker Olena Hasanova from Azerbaijan deserve special mentioning.
The beginning of the season went very well for SSC Palmberg SCHWERIN. After taking the German Supercup, the team from northern Germany remained unbeaten until last Wednesday. The 2-3 loss to DRESDNER SC was the first defeat after a winning streak of nine matches. With the upcoming game against LE CANNET, the German champions hope to make a successful start to international competition as well. With a concentrated performance, SSC Palmberg SCHWERIN want to achieve a good starting position for the second leg in January. Coach Felix Koslowski expects a close match and hopes for loud support from the home fans in the Palmberg Arena.
