Check out the latest Volleyball sensation, the ‘#NetDrop Challenge’!
News from the CEV
Luxembourg, November 29, 2017. What is the ‘#NetDrop Challenge’? You may have heard of the cross bar challenge in Football, well we thought it was about time we did something similar in Volleyball! The first ones to take up the challenge were the gold medal winners from the last edition of the CEV Volleyball Champions League, VakifBank ISTANBUL, and more specifically their star players Kelsey Robinson and Lonneke Slöetjes. However, we believe this is only the beginning of a true phenomenon, which we expect will turn into a viral sensation on social media, so just get ready and try it yourself!
How does it work?
• Two of the top players in your team will compete against each other in a service game
• Each player serves five times, alternating between the two (A, B, A, B, …)
• The aim for each serve is to get the ball to “clip” the top of the net as it crosses and land before the attack line
• The score is kept to determine the winner from your club (e.g. 3-1)
• All other teammates stand to the side of the court and cheer those serving, or are allowed to try and put the players off
• One player commentating / keeping score
This is exactly what happened with the star-studded team of VakifBank ISTANBUL:
Kelsey Robinson and Lonneke Slöetjes tested their ability, with Kübra Akman Caliskan briefly joining them as well in an effort to win the challenge!
The ultimate idea is to create a Club vs. Club competition by combining the two scores of the serving players and comparing their results (out of 10).
We look forward to crowning the 2017-2018 #NetDrop Champion!
