Belgrade, Serbia, May 11, 2017. Vizura BEOGRAD claimed their fourth straight title in the Serbian women’s national league after recording three wins to one in the championship series with Jedinstvo STARA PAZOVA. Vizura rallied to a 3-1 victory (25-23, 18-25, 25-20, 26-24) in the fourth round of the finals doing so in front of their home fans and after 112 minutes of play.
Mr Zoran Gajic, President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, presented Sladjana Erić, team captain of Vizura, with the trophy for the eventual winners.
Mr Ivan Knežević, Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, and Mr Nikola Grbić, head coach of the senior men’s national team of Serbia, presented the players of both teams with their respective gold and silver medals.
Mr Bogdan Mamuzić, President of the Association of First Division Volleyball Clubs, awarded the consolation trophy to Sara Sakradžija, team captain of Jedinstvo.
“Before the match I said to my teammates that we had to play with all our hearts and we did exactly what I wanted. This is a great success for us. Jedinstvo have a very powerful team, they won two trophies this year, but I think that this championship title is rightfully in our hands,” said Sladjana Erić, team captain of Vizura.
“I would like to congratulate Vizura’s players on their great performance in the final series. We were a little bit weary after the semi-final matches but that is no excuse for us. Today it was not our day. We did our best, but it was not enough. We are moving on and preparing for the next season,” concluded Sara Sakradžija, team captain of Jedinstvo.
“This was a battle featuring two great teams, with equal potential. I think that in the end we rightfully won the title. We did not surrender, but neither did Jedinstvo. We say that it is always more difficult to defend a title than to win it, and Vizura have been defending the title for three years now. This is an enormous success,” said Jovica Cvetkovic, head coach of Vizura.
“The trophy is on the table, everybody is looking at it, and it can be very stressful. Sladjana Erić, team captain of Vizura, was calm, she is an experienced player, and probably she made the difference because only for her this was not an uncomfortable situation. I congratulate Vizura on winning the title, but I do not have anything bad to say to my girls, they fought as much as they could and I am proud of them. This season we won two trophies, but I am sure that we will be here next year and claim the only prize that we are missing for now, and that is the championship title,” said Jovo Caković, head coach of Jedinstvo.
