Dinamo MOSCOW need two sets from re-match with Arkas to move on to Playoffs 6
2017 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Men
Moscow, Russia, March 20, 2017. Only five days after locking horns at Atatürk Volleyball Hall, Dinamo MOSCOW and Arkas IZMIR will be crossing their ways once again on Tuesday night in the second round of action on schedule for the Playoffs 12 of the 2017 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Men.
In the meantime, Dinamo MOSCOW played a match of the Russian national league with Kuzbass KEMEROVO, so the last few days have been quite challenging for the club from the Russian capital.
Arkas IZMIR are still fairly young when it comes to their history – the club was established in 2001 as it started playing in the top division of the Turkish national league. They progressed quite fast becoming national champions in 2006 – a title they retained in 2007 before in 2009 and 2011 they won the national cup and Turkish Supercup, respectively. Canadian-born Glenn Hoag has been coaching the team from Turkey’s third largest city for seven years in a row.
Last Thursday Dinamo rallied to a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Arkas IZMIR, with Yury Berezhko and Konstantin Bakun top scoring with 17 and 16 points, respectively as Michael Sanchez Bozhulev paced Arkas IZMIR with 12. This means Dinamo have to take two sets from the re-match at home to progress to the Playoffs 6 where they would play the eventual winners of the tie featuring another Turkish team, ISTANBUL BBSK and German reigning national champions BERLIN Recycling Volleys.
