Zaksa believe in comeback ahead of re-match with Belogorie
2017 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Men

Kedzierzyn-Kozle, Poland, March 20, 2017. After losing 1-3 last week in Russia to Belogorie BELGOROD, Poland’s reigning national champions Zaksa KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE have to fight their way back and vie for a Golden Set to secure their progression to the Playoffs 6 of the 2017 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Men.

Though they caught a flying start and won the opening set of their first matchup at a canter (25-13), Zaksa could not keep that same pace and ended up losing 1-3 in Russia last week. “We played poorly in both the second and third sets and this is something you simply cannot afford when playing an opponent as strong as Belogorie,” said Zaksa head coach Ferdinando De Giorgi. “This is the lesson we took and we are taking all this into account when preparing for the re-match on Wednesday.”

On Sunday, Zaksa resumed their campaign in the Polish national league cruising to a 3-1 victory over MKS BEDZIN, but this did not come easy at all. The team clearly feel the absence of Kévin Tillie, and it looks unlikely that the Frenchman will be playing on Wednesday against Belogorie.

“We will not take any risks when it comes to the health of our player since apart from the European Cups, we still want to defend our title in the national league,” said Zaksa CEO and former Volleyball star Sebastian Swiderski. He feels like a victory over Belogorie is still within his team’s reach. “We are confident that Zenit KAZAN will be coming to Kedzierzyn-Kozle to play in the next round,” Swiderski said. One thing is for sure: the interest in any such matches is tremendous. Tickets were sold out in a very short time and 3,000 fans are likely to watch the matchup with Belogorie from the stands of Azoty Hall.
