Novi Pazar, Serbia, March 15, 2017. OK NOVI PAZAR recently achieved the greatest success in their history by winning the men’s Serbian national cup for the very first time. They defeated Vojvodina NS Seme NOVI SAD in the final, in front of more than 1,500 raucous home fans, by rallying to a 3-0 victory (25-22, 27-25, 25-18) after 86 minutes of play.
Before the match, Mr Zoran Gajic, President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, presented Mr Nihat Biševac, Lord Mayor of Novi Pazar, with a special plaque as a sign of gratitude for the smooth organization of the national cup Finals, and for the overall contribution to the development of Volleyball.
After the match, Mr Gajic presented the winners’ trophy to Hamza Zatric, team captain of OK NOVI PAZAR. The opposite hitter of the winning team, Irfan Hamzagić, received the trophy for the MVP of the tournament together with a Huawei P9 mobile phone provided by the “Vip mobile” company.
Mr Nihat Husanović, Deputy Mayor of Novi Pazar, presented Cedomir Stankovic, team captain of Vojvodina NS Seme, with the trophy designed for the runners-up of the competition.
Mr Ivan Knezevic and Mr Nihat Biševac awarded the players of OK NOVI PAZAR with the gold medals as Mr Ervin Corovic, Chairman of OK NOVI PAZAR, and Mr Dragutin Cuk, Technical Director of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, presented the silver medals to the players of Vojvodina NS Seme.
“This is something that we have worked for since the beginning of the season. We played as a team all the time, and we kept our composure even when things did not go our way. We are thrilled, and we made everyone happy. I hope this is not the end of the season, because we have much more to show in the Playoffs of the national league,” said Sasa Stefanovic, head coach of OK NOVI PAZAR.
“The first set was crucial, but still we had our chances in the following one. We had an edge towards the end of the second set but we lost it due to our lack of experience. The players of OK NOVI PAZAR, on the other hand, looked calm and focussed and with the support of their fans, they finished the game in the best way they could. Congratulations to them, and for us, I promise that my players will do much better in the Playoffs even though I am quite satisfied with their performance in this tournament,” said Nedzad Osmankač, head coach of Vojvodina NS Seme NOVI SAD.
