Galatasaray want clear win from home matchup with Budowlani
2017 CEV Volleyball Cup - Women
Istanbul, Turkey, March 7, 2017. On Wednesday, Galatasaray ISTANBUL will be hosting Budowlani LODZ of Poland in the first matchup on schedule for the quarterfinals of the 2017 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women. The match will take place at Burhan Felek Volleyball Hall, one of the country’s Volleyball “temples”.
Galatasaray ISTANBUL progressed to the quarterfinals after edging Nova KBM Branik MARIBOR of Slovenia claiming a 3-0 victory from the first match at home and secured their spot in the quarterfinals by taking two sets from the remake played in Maribor, even though the hosts eventually rallied to a 3-2 victory. The visitors from Poland have a similar record. Budowlani LODZ first defeated RC CANNES 3-0 at home and even though they lost 2-3 at Palais des Victoires, they still made it through to the next round.
Galatasaray’s Italian opposite hitter Nadia Centoni: “We should catch a good start to the match tomorrow. Budowlani LODZ are currently in a very good position in their national championship, which is one of the most competitive ones in Europe. We must secure a 3-0 or 3-1 victory here in Istanbul so that we get an edge ahead of the re-match next week in Poland. It is never easy to play an away match in Poland, where the spectators play a major role. Clearly we want a clean victory that will help us make a first step on our way to the CEV Cup semi-finals.”
