Uralochka to put up a fight against world-class opponent
2017 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Women
Ekaterinburg, Russia, February 25, 2017. Uralochka-NTMK EKATERINBURG are hoping to put up a fight as they play Turkey’s VakifBank ISTANBUL in their last match in Pool D of the 2017 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Women. VakifBank have swept five matches in a row so far and have secured themselves a spot in the Playoffs 6 since their leadership in the pool is a crystal-clear one – even city rivals Eczacibasi VitrA cannot challenge it anymore. As for Uralochka, they currently sit in third place and are already out of contention for a spot in the next round of Europe’s elite competition.
Despite this, the young Russian players are motivated to put up a fight against some of the world’s best Volleyball players and to capitalise on this experience. Uralochka are about to start the Playoffs of the Russian national league with two of their players standing out in their respective positions – namely setter Marina Babeshina and outside spiker Kseniia Parubets (Ilchenko) being the best scorer of the Russian championship so far.
Uralochka head coach Nikolay Karpol: “The participation in the Champions League provided our young rising stars with a priceless opportunity to stand against and measure themselves up with some of the world’s best Volleyball players. We are looking forward to another chance to grow and nurture our spirits and class in the next match against our outstanding opponent, and are motivated to show our potential to our fans.”
