Dinamo want Playoff spot from re-match with ISTANBUL BBSK
2017 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Men
Moscow, Russia, February 12, 2017. This coming Wednesday Dinamo MOSCOW will be hosting Turkey’s ISTANBUL BBSK in a match on schedule for the fifth round of the 2017 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Men group stage, featuring the current no. 2 and no. 3 teams in Pool A.
This is the last home match for Dinamo MOSCOW in the pool and if they win – by any score – the Muscovites will practically secure their promotion to the Playoffs 12 of Europe’s elite club competition. Dinamo are just about to play two key matches for the remainder of their 2016-2017 campaign – the fixture with ISTANBUL BBSK in the CEV Volleyball Champions League and a home match with Zenit KAZAN in the Russian league, this one scheduled for February 19.
A few weeks ago, Dinamo MOSCOW claimed the matchup played in Istanbul by 3-1. This game was played under very special circumstances – only a few days after the assassination of Russia’s Ambassador to Turkey, Mr Andrey Karlov. Back then, Konstantin Bakun top scored for Dinamo with 19 points, successfully finishing 69% of his attempts in attack.
The matchup coming up on Wednesday will feature – beside many more star Russian players – four Olympic champions from London 2012 playing for Dinamo – Sergey Grankin, Dmitriy Ilinykh, Yury Berezhko and Alexander Volkov – plus the many star players on the roster of ISTANBUL BBSK – Antonin Rouzier, Marko Matic, Nicolas Marechal, Nicolas Le Goff, and Siarhei Antanovich to name only a few.
