Fakel NOVY URENGOY confident ahead of re-match with Belarusian rivals
2017 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup - Men
Novy Urengoy, Russia, February 1, 2017. Russia’s Fakel NOVY URENGOY will be hosting BATE-BGUFK BORISOV of Belarus on Thursday night in the return match on schedule for the 8th Finals of the 2017 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup – Men. Back on January 18, Fakel rallied to a comprehensive 3-0 victory over BORISOV in the first matchup played in Mogilev.
The players of Fakel are in their best shape ahead of the re-match with BORISOV – both physically and psychologically. Dmitrii Volkov and Ilia Vlasov have recovered from their respective injuries and they are both ready to play. Another star player of Fakel, Egor Kliuka, acknowledges that any matches with teams from Belarus are always special.
“Belarus is my homeland and I owe much respect to this country,” Kliuka (pictured) said. “However, now I play for Fakel and will do my best to help the team reach the next stage of the Challenge Cup.”
The fans and people of Novy Urengoy are awaiting this match with much anticipation and excitement. Last year Fakel made it to the final of the Challenge Cup, eventually losing to Italy’s Calzedonia VERONA and this time around, the supporters hope that their heroes will crown this campaign with gold.
In the previous round, Fakel beat another Belarusian team, Shakhtior SOLIGORSK, whereas BATE-BGUFK BORISOV claimed the derby with Legion OBUHOVO.
