Galatasaray easily through to CEV Cup 8th Finals
2017 CEV Volleyball Cup - Women
Istanbul, Turkey, January 24, 2017. Galatasaray ISTANBUL easily claimed their home match with Switzerland’s VFM FRANCHES-MONTAGNES 3-0 (25-14, 25-23, 25-16) to progress to the 8th Finals of the 2017 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women.
After rallying to a 3-1 away victory two weeks ago in Switzerland, Galatasaray were extremely motivated to emerge victorious also from the home round in order to make it safely through to the next round. The Turkish team were able to capitalise on their experience and easily routed their young opponents in three, straight sets by showing an extremely well organised game, courtesy of their setter Gamze Alikaya.
Galatasaray assistant coach Cihan Cintay commented: “It is great that we could use some of our younger players so they could get valuable experience from a European competition. We will now focus entirely on the next round.”
In the 8th Finals, Galatasaray will play the eventual winners of the Slovenian derby featuring Calcit LJUBLJANA and Nova KBM Branik MARIBOR.
