Polish champs POLICE feel confident ahead of home matchup with CONEGLIANO
2017 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Women
Szczecin, Poland, January 24, 2017. Chemik POLICE will play Imoco Volley CONEGLIANO of Italy in a match on schedule for the third round of action in Pool A of the 2017 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Women. This is the second time this season POLICE are hosting an Italian opponent – some weeks ago they clearly lost their home match with Liu Jo Nordmeccanica MODENA.
“That match was very close and we had the opportunity to win the second as well as the third set,” said Chemik POLICE assistant coach Jakub Krebok. “Now we feel quite confident. We have been playing with much consistency in the Polish national league and we are in good shape. We are very motivated to show that same level in the Champions League as well.”
Imoco Volley are travelling to Szczecin with a Polish-born star player – setter Katarzyna Skorupa – in their ranks. “This is the kind of player that can do something out of nothing,” noted the opposite hitter of Chemik POLICE, Anna Werblinska. “I had the opportunity to play with her. She can confuse the opponent’s block no matter if the reception is good or bad, that is her strongest side.”
Shortly after the holiday season, Chemik claimed their first victory in Pool A, easily routing Telekom BAKU of Azerbaijan. “If we can play against CONEGLIANO at the same level we showed when playing Telekom, there is nothing we should worry about,” said POLICE libero Aleksandra Krzos. “We are in good shape and we want to show it come Wednesday.”
