American star Nicole Fawcett looking forward to playing for CONEGLIANO
2017 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Women
Treviso, Italy, January 10, 2017. Imoco Volley CONEGLIANO have claimed ten straight wins in the Italian national league, national and CEV Volleyball Champions League – and on Thursday will go for a much anticipated away derby with Liu Jo Nordmeccanica MODENA in Europe’s elite club competition.
CONEGLIANO will be playing MODENA, which is now coached by Marco Gaspari, who was at the helm of Imoco Volley when they made their first appearance in the CEV Volleyball Champions League in the 2013-2014 season. CONEGLIANO will be missing their Polish-born player, Berenika Tomsia, due to injury, but will be able to rely on the recently transferred American star Nicole Fawcett, who joined the team on Sunday.
“I am ready for this new adventure and I am very excited to be here,” Fawcett said, “and to play with coach Davide Mazzanti. My teammates from the American national team who were here last year have spoken very fondly of the club and the staff, so I can’t wait to perform.”
