RC CANNES hope to confirm clear away victory in home match
2017 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Women
Cannes, France, November 3, 2016. Twenty-time French national champions RC CANNES have returned home following an undisputed victory from the away match in Bosnia with ZOK Bimal-Jedinstvo BRČKO they contested on Tuesday night.
Despite the injuries of two of their key players – team captain Sanja Bursac and setter Tanja Grbic – which could have weakened and side-lined the group, the collective strength of the French team was too much to stand for the young Bosnian opponents.
Laurent Tillie, who has followed in the footsteps of Chinese-born legendary coach Yan Fang at the helm of RC CANNES, will lead the players from the French Riviera for the first time at home in a Champions League game on Saturday, November 5, at 20:40 local time.
“BRČKO are certainly able to play much better than they did on Tuesday,” declared the French coach after returning from Bosnia. “That’s why I have told the girls to remain focussed and to take the opponent very seriously. Of course, the odds are clearly in our favour, but I am expecting BRČKO, who won their own national championship as many as 10 times, to show a much better performance on Saturday. So, let’s be careful.”
