Croatian champions KASTELA look forward to historic Champions League premiere
2017 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Men
Kaštela, Croatia, November 2, 2016. Croatia’s national champions Mladost Ribola KASTELA will be playing later today the most important match in their club’s history so far when taking on Greece’s PAOK THESSALONIKI in the first of two matches on schedule for the second round of the 2017 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Men.
It has been a number of years since a Croatian team participated in Europe’s elite club competition. The reigning Croatian national champions have promoted a lot of young players to the roster of their first team and these youngsters are looking forward to showcasing their skills and abilities on the most prestigious European stage they could ask for.
Head coach Ivan Rančić said: “We are delighted with the opportunity to play in the Champions League. We are also extremely motivated because we will be playing an opponent which has a great tradition in Volleyball and boasts a very large sports family, probably one of the biggest ones in Europe. We are looking forward to the match and are hoping it will be a good one for us in the end.”
The matchup between Mladost Ribola KASTELA and PAOK THESSALONIKI will be played on Wednesday, November 2 at Kaštel Stari hall in Kaštela starting at 7 pm local time.
