Omonia NICOSIA ready for the Champions League challenge!
2017 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Men
Nicosia, Cyprus, October 31, 2016. This coming Wednesday, November 2, is an important day for Omonia NICOSIA and the Cyprus Volleyball family. Omonia NICOSIA welcome Slovenia’s ACH Volley LJUBLJANA for the second round of the 2017 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Men and want to combine their maiden presence in the top club competition with an unprecedented success.
Omonia NICOSIA will be the first Cypriot team playing in the CEV Volleyball Champions League and it is also the first time that a game of such a major event is organised in Cyprus.
The Volleyball team of Omonia has achieved a lot in the last three years. The team has won two national championships, one cup, three Shields, and has claimed 28 consecutive victories in domestic competitions. They were also the first Cypriot team ever to make it to the Round of 16 in the CEV Volleyball Cup.
However, this team dreams of achieving much more. One of the objectives set for this season is the distinction in the CEV Volleyball Champions League. The players on the roster believe that they have the abilities to overcome the difficulties and achieve a good result.
The coach, Savvas Savva, is happy to have all of his players in excellent psychological state. “We will try to do our best. We believe that we can overcome the difficulties and win this game. We respect our opponent. It’s a very good team, with quality players. But we also have a good squad and with the support of our fans, we can qualify to the next round,” Mr Savva said.
Tickets are available at the box office ‘Omonia – PrimeTel’. They also can be found on stadium funds, on the match day, from 18:00. The game will start at 19:00 local time.
