Kosovo’s U18 girls make historic European debut in Falköping
2017 CEV U18 Volleyball European Championship - Women
Falköping, Sweden, October 27, 2016. The players composing the women’s U18 national team of Kosovo are ready to make their international debut in Falköping, Sweden, where later this weekend they will contest the first round of qualifications to their age-group European Championship.
The first round of qualifications to the #EuroVolleyU18W is just around the corner as Iceland take on hosts Sweden on Friday afternoon. Together with Georgia and Kosovo, these teams will fight for the only ticket available to progress to the second stage of the competition that is scheduled for early January 2017.
There is no doubt that this is a special tournament. It does not only coincide with the start of an epic journey towards the 2017 CEV U18 Volleyball European Championship – Women Finals that will be taking place next year in Arnhem, the Netherlands. It also represents the first time Kosovo are competing internationally in this age group.
“For us, it is the first time a women’s team from Kosovo takes part in the U18 European Championship, so it is a special feeling for us,” said Naser Krasniqi, who is at the helm of the Kosovar team.
On Friday afternoon at 6 p.m. the Kosovars will start their campaign as they clash with Georgia. “We expect a good performance and we hope we can take advantage of the opportunity we are given to gain experience,” Krasniqi concluded.
