Minsk poised to host first Champions League matches on Belarusian soil
2017 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Men & Women
Minsk, Belarus, October 27, 2016. The elite CEV Volleyball Champions League will be visiting the Republic of Belarus for the first time next week – when the country’s capital Minsk plays host to the historic home matches to be contested on November 1 by Stroitel and Minchanka in the men’s and women’s competition, respectively.
Stroitel MINSK will open the programme of a historic day for the Belarusian Volleyball family when taking on Finland’s Tiikerit KOKKOLA at 5pm local time. Later in the evening, Minchanka MINSK will also play their first ever Champions League match against another Finnish team – HPK HÄMEENLINNA, who are also celebrating their premiere in Europe’s elite club competition.
The matches will be contested at the iconic Falcon Club Arena (see picture) in the Belarusian capital and the organisers are working hard in order to deliver a real party for everyone involved – the teams and their staff but especially the fans. Apart from the matches, a lot of side activities are planned – involving cheerleaders, ‘meet and greet’ sessions with the players and much more to contribute to a historic Volleyball night in the city that in three years’ time will be hosting the second edition of the European Games.
