Crvena Zvezda claim fifth Serbian Supercup crown in six years
News from the National Federations

Belgrade, Serbia, October 7, 2016. The men’s team of Crvena Zvezda BEOGRAD recently claimed their fifth crown in Serbia’s Supercup in six years as they beat Mladi Radnik POZAREVAC 3-2 (25-16, 25-27, 25-14, 20-25, 15-12), after 121 minutes of play. The match was played at Pozarevac sports hall in the city which bears the same name, in front of as many as 3,000 spectators.

Before the start of the match, Emilija Mitrović, a student at the local Stevan Mokranjac school of music, performed a daring version of the national anthem of Serbia.

In the break between the first and second set, Mr Vladimir Grbić, First Vice-President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, presented Mr Bane Spasović, Lord Mayor of the City of Pozarevac, with a special plaque produced by the Volleyball Federation of Serbia.



After the match Grbić presented Nikola Muncan, the team captain of Crvena Zvezda, with the winners’ cup, while Mr Bogdan Mamuzić, President of the Association of First Division Volleyball Clubs, handed over the Supercup trophy to the leader of the winning team.

Mr Bane Spasović, Lord Mayor of the City of Pozarevac, and Mr Zoran Avramović, Marketing Director of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, presented the players of Crvena Zvezda with the gold medals for the eventual winners of the competition.

Mr Lazar Ristić, Vice President of the Volleyball club Mladi Radnik, awarded Ivica Jevtić, team captain of Mladi Radnik POZAREVAC, who received a consolation trophy.



Mrs Ana Miljanić, Assistant to the Lord Mayor of Pozarevac in charge of sports, and Mr Petar Bogunović, Vice-President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia and President of the Volleyball Association of Vojvodina, presented the players of Mladi Radnik with the silver medals designed for the runners-up of the competition.

Mr Čedomir Nedeljković, Competition Commissioner in the Association of First Division Volleyball Clubs, awarded the match officials with a set of commemorative medals as well.
