Resovia’s players look forward to following exciting Playoffs 6 round
2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men
Rzeszow/Krakow, Poland, March 22, 2016. The second and final leg of the Playoffs 6 will be starting on Tuesday night and by this coming Thursday Volleyball fans from all over the world will get to know the names of the teams joining hosts Asseco Resovia RZESZOW in the much anticipated Final Four tournament of the 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men scheduled for April 16-17 in Krakow, Poland.
The same sense of anticipation applies, quite evidently, also to the players of Resovia. “It is not my first Final Four tournament. Last year I had the chance to play in Berlin and won a silver medal there. My memories from this tournament are really nice. The organisation was great, the sports hall was full and we finished the competition in second place. Now I hope that the tournament in Krakow will be organised with the same standards and on a high level as well. Krakow is a really interesting city with a nice sports hall,” said Nikolay Penchev, player of the Bulgarian National Volleyball team and one of the key members of Asseco Resovia RZESZOW.
“I am really excited to play in my first Champions League Final Four. I think it is the most interesting and popular competition in Europe,” added his French teammate, Julien Lyneel.
Asseco Resovia’s stars are anxiously waiting for the names of their opponents in the finals and they feel confident they can improve on the second place they claimed last year in the German capital. “I think we have a chance to play in the final, why not? There are ‘only’ four teams, so each one has the opportunity to vie for gold. Of course I am hoping that my team will be coming out on top this year. We want to show our best game. We can capitalise on the advantage of playing in Poland where we have a lot of amazing fans,” Penchev added. “We have a really good team spirit and everything is possible,” confirmed Lyneel.
The start of the second and final leg of the Playoffs 6 is something that the players of Resovia are really looking forward to. Penchev has his own wishes to share. “I wish Zenit KAZAN will secure their progression to the Final Four because this is the team of my good friend from Bulgaria, Teodor Salparov but on the other hand, it would be a great thing for the Polish fans if PGE Skra BELCHATOW could make it to the finals. Another good friend from the national team, Tsvetan Sokolov, is playing for Halkbank ANKARA, so I can only wish the best of success to him as well. Every team is really strong so it will be interesting to watch the matches this week.”
“All teams play at the highest level, so it is difficult to make any predictions but I think Halkbank ANKARA, Zenit KAZAN and Belogorie BELGOROD will claim the ticket to Final Four but as I said, anything can happen,” concluded Lyneel.
