Wounded Lions of Belogorie strive for revenge
2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men
Belgorod, Russia, March 21, 2016. On Tuesday night Europe’s Volleyball family will get to know the name of the first team claiming a ticket to the Final Four Tournament of the 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men following the re-match between Russia’s Belogorie BELGOROD and Italy’s TRENTINO Diatec.
The first “Clash of the Titans” at Palatrento last week ended in a heavy 3-0 loss for the 2014 CL gold medallists from Russia. Coach Radostin Stoychev and Co. showed an outstanding performance in front of their home crowd outplaying Belogorie in every aspect of the game.
After the match in Trento the ‘Lions’ of Belogorie BELGOROD had some time to lick their wounds while TRENTINO Diatec played their third quarter-final match of the Italian national league against Exprivia MOLFETTA and celebrated a 3-0 home victory. This means that the Italians will be travelling to Russia in high spirits.
Belogorie BELGOROD has no other option than to win at home. However, their task now is close to impossible – they have to win in three or four sets to have a chance to go for the golden set where a ticket to Krakow, venue of this year’s Final Four, would then be at stake.
