Italian league leaders CIVITANOVA want to capitalise on away win over Arkas
2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men
Civitanova Marche, Italy, February 29, 2016. Italy’s Cucine Lube CIVITANOVA routed Arkas IZMIR in straight sets two weeks ago in the first round of action for the Playoffs 12 of the 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men and hence look confidently forward to the return game that is coming up on Wednesday night, March 2, at Eurosuole Forum.
The team mentored by Gianlorenzo Blengini last Sunday scored its tenth consecutive win in the Italian Superleague, thus securing their first place in the standing of the regular season with one round still to be played next Sunday. After their 3-0 win over Gi Group MONZA, CIVITANOVA are now entirely focussed on their European campaign.
“The results we have claimed lately confirm we are in good shape,” says CIVITANOVA’s Serbian-born middle blocker Dragan Stankovic. “We have been doing well in the Italian national league as well as in the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League, claiming a very important victory two weeks ago in Turkey. Now we must finish our job properly by scoring a home win in front of our fans, and I hope they will give us the right boost of energy. Arkas is a strong team, so we have to forget that we won the first match in three sets, and fight from the first to the last second on Wednesday, in order to avoid the golden set. We really want to make it to the Playoffs 6 and we’ll play with everything we have in order to achieve this goal.”
