SCHWERINER SC expect tough re-match with Romanian champions in CEV Cup Challenge Round
2016 CEV Volleyball Cup - Women
Schwerin, Germany, February 24, 2016. The expectations in Schwerin are quite high after two weeks ago SCHWERINER SC cruised to a straight-sets win in their first matchup with Romania’s champions CS Volei Alba BLAJ on schedule for the Challenge Round of the 2016 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women.
Only in the opening set SCHWERINER SC and BLAJ showed the expected close and tough match and it was a proof that the two opponents can play at the same level. “It will be a different match tomorrow,” says SCHWERINER SC head coach Felix Koslowski talking about the second leg coming up on Thursday night. “Two weeks ago we had a very good day and played one of our best matches this season. We need to perform at the same level and the support of our fans can help us even further to make it to the semi-finals,” Koslowski adds.
His counterpart from CS Volei Alba BLAJ Darko Zakoc points out that the match won’t be the same as two weeks ago and assures that his team won’t give up till the last really and fight bravely to make it to the next round.
This is the third match that Zakoc will contest in Schwerin. In the 2012 edition of the CEV Volleyball Champions League he played with his former team 2004 Tomis CONSTANTA (ROU) against SCHWERINER SC and the starting point was completely different to the current one: SCHWERINER SC had lost the away match in Romania 2-3 but thanks to a 3-0 commanding home win the Germans eventually moved on to the Playoffs 12 of Europe’s elite competition.
In 2007 Koslowski – at that time the assistant coach to the Norwegian mentor of SCHWERINER SC, Tore Aleksandersen – and Darko Zakoc, at the time head coach of Serbia’s Postar 064 BEOGRAD, crossed their ways with a spot in the semis of the Top Teams Cup at stake. In a very closely fought match SCHWERINER SC came out on top in the golden set to secure a spot among the top four of that competition.
With that history in mind the teams and fans can start looking forward to an exciting match to be played at eye level.
