Impelki poised to claim re-match with Galatasaray in CEV Cup Challenge Round
2016 CEV Volleyball Cup - Women
Wroclaw, Poland, February 22, 2016. Impel WROCLAW are poised to continue their adventure in this year’s European Cups and will be hosting on Wednesday late afternoon Turkey’s Galatasaray ISTANBUL for the second leg of the 2016 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women Challenge Round.
Galatasaray ISTANBUL is the second Turkish team that the Impelki – as the players of Impel WROCLAW are nicknamed – are playing this season. They previously played twice – and lost both of their matches with – Fenerbahce Grundig ISTANBUL in Pool E of the 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women. Another tough match lies ahead for Impel as Galatasaray are one of the best teams in the highly competitive Turkish national league.
Some ten days ago these teams crossed their ways in Istanbul and Galatasaray claimed a 3-1 home win but Impel are hoping for a different outcome in this re-match. They have been using a short break in their national league to prepare as good as they could for this important match. The key to success can be to stop the real leader of Galatasaray ISTANBUL – Nadia Centoni. The Italian-born opposite and team captain is a very important player for the squad from Turkey’s megalopolis.
The battle between Galatasaray and Impel is also a battle between two major stars of the Italian Volleyball scene – Carolina Costagrande and Nadia Centoni and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top in the end. Impel and Galatasaray are teams whose rosters are filled with great players. Katarzyna Skowronska-Dolata, Kristin Hildebrand, Milena Radecka, Charlotte Leys, Cursty Jackson, Güldeniz Önal are only some of the players set to deliver a true Volleyball show on Wednesday night as these teams fight for a spot in the semis of Europe’s second most prestigious club competition.
“We look forward to the match with Galatasaray. We want to play ‘our Volleyball’. The whole week we worked on improving every element of our game and I hope that this will bring the desired results,” said Katarzyna Skowronska-Dolata, the undisputed leader of the team from Wroclaw.
“We are pleased that we can play the rematch in our hall. We believe that we’ll win this one and the next step will be to claim the golden set. Everything is in our hands,” added Marek Solarewicz, the assistant coach of Impel WROCLAW.
