Two sets to go for SCHWERINER SC
2016 CEV Volleyball Cup - Women
Schwerin, Germany, January 27, 2016. Germany’s SCHWERINER SC need to win two more sets in Thursday’s match against Ukraine’s multiple national champions Khimik YUZHNY to make it to the Challenge Round of the 2016 CEV Volleyball Cup. The first match played in Ukraine last week ended in a fairly comfortable 3-0 win for the Germans.
“YUZHNY will play 110% tomorrow night to take their opportunity of winning against us. And we have to repeat our performance from last week to win at least two sets,” said Felix Koslowski, head coach of SCHWERINER SC whilst his colleague from YUZHNY, Sergei Holotov, is sure that his team is going to fight till the end to achieve their qualification to the next round, too.
SCHWERINER SC just lost their game against eternal rival DRESDNER SC by 0-3 (23-25, 20-25, 10-25) in the national championship due to the tough schedule of last week – the team arrived late Friday evening in Dresden and played against the current leaders of the Bundesliga early on Saturday afternoon – on top of this they also had to cope with some injured players. The last days SCHWERINER SC took some time to recover and to get back to their strength from the end of last year. Three regular players and the head coach missed the team training at the beginning of the year because of their participation in the European Olympic Qualification Tournament held in Ankara, so one of the main tasks for Koslowski at this stage is working on his players’ physical condition and the team chemistry.
Fans and spectators can look forward to an exciting match where the players of both teams will be fighting for every ball and deliver some exciting rallies. Khimik YUZHNY have been trying to recuperate from the pretty long travel from Odessa via Hamburg to Schwerin arriving two days before the match to be well prepared for the challenging game on Thursday night.
