Swiss Dragons chase spot in CEV Cup Challenge Round
2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men
Lugano, Switzerland, January 25, 2016. The last match on schedule for the 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men is coming up on Tuesday night for Switzerland’s national champions, #Dragons LUGANO. The Swiss Dragons are hosting Pool G leaders Asseco Resovia RZESZOW from Poland with the match starting at 7pm local time.
The Swiss champions are out of contention for a spot in the Playoffs 12 after last week’s heavy loss to Belgium’s Volley ASSE-LENNIK. However, they still stand a chance of moving on to the Challenge Round of the 2016 CEV Volleyball Cup. They need to take at least one point against Asseco Resovia – whose leadership in Pool G is not to be questioned anymore – or hope that the other candidates BERLIN Recycling Volleys, PARIS Volley, Hypo Tirol INNSBRUK and Knack ROESELARE will lose their matches in this last round of the group stage.
“We are very disappointed with the result of last week’s match with Volley ASSE-LENNIK,” said the mentor of #Dragons LUGANO, Mario Motta. “However, we now play for another goal, the CEV Cup. We will meet in this last match Asseco Resovia, one of the top favourites to win this year’s Champions League. We will nevertheless try to fight from start to end and do our best to please our fans.”
