‘Häfler’ bid farewell with home match against Russian giant
2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men
Friedrichshafen, Germany, January 24, 2016. Even though VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN stand no chances of qualifying for the Playoff stage of the 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men, the players from the Lake of Constance are determined to bid farewell in the best way on Tuesday night when hosting Russia’s heavyweight Dinamo MOSCOW in the last round of Pool B.
“We were unlucky at the beginning of the season,” says VfB coach Stelian Moculescu. “Our setter Simon Tischer got injured, and we had to re-think everything right after our preparation phase. And as you can imagine, this was not quite easy.”
VfB suffered three setbacks in a row in Pool B before they fought back at home against PARIS Volley in what remains one of their best matches this season so far. Tischer recovered well from injury and now FRIEDRICHSHAFEN are able to use him as their starting setter. “Simon is doing well,” Moculescu says. “But we will need some time to come together.”
In Germany’s Bundesliga VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN had a big fight on Saturday night against the newcomers from Frankfurt, but the superstars from Dinamo MOSCOW will bring a totally different level on Tuesday. “I’m sure Dinamo want to win,” says Moculescu. “We just want to show a really good match and play at a high level. We don’t have the pressure to win and this is a really good precondition to do well.”
